I had my front tooth knocked out back in '02, and no thanks to Alice, she took the only photo that exists of me without my tooth. For this and many other "shocking" photos, feel free to visit my online photo album. To view the older blog entries, please click here. |
Friday, July 1, 2005 There are only two certainties in life... So, apparently it's really difficult to find an internet cafe in all of Scotland, so this is the first chance that I've been able to post something online...
Incidentally, I think this is now officially the longest I have gone without any internet access since going to college... Anywho... Scotland was absolutely beautiful. Although it rained quite a bit while we were there, we were able to tour and see many of the castles that are part of Scotland's history and heritage. One particular story to note is that we went to go find out about the history of the Giffin clan, who ruled in a castle in south central Scotland near Ayre until about the 12th century. More details when I get back... but to keep a long story short, the reason that the Giffin clan left Scotland was not because of heroic efforts to fight in some grand battle, as I was once mistakenly led to believe (btw, it's a lot tougher writing this story in a funny way with Lani looking over my shoulder). It turns out... they fled Scotland because they failed to pay taxes to the king... um... basically, tax evasion. Yeah, I had fun with that one. =P Anyway, we've arrived in Dublin just a couple of hours ago. We're going to go grab some dinner, and then we're off to County Clare. And yes, on the way there, I'm picking up a fiddle (I found a place that will rent one for me for the week) and Lani's going to be picking up a pair of celtic tap shoes. This should be interesting... < Previous | Next > |
